Challenges
As a global operation with multiple business units consuming compliance data, successful implementation of software was a challenge in and of itself. When the company approached CBI, it was already utilizing the Symantec’s Control Compliance Suite (CCS). What the client did not realize, however, is that they were not operating the software to maximize its value.
As a result of maintaining multiple business units, the client is required to break down data to remediate potential issues, as well as satisfy a complicated billing structure. Thus, the
company was forced to manually create hundreds of tags in two environments: Test CCS and Production CCS. Not only did this require one manual tag creation, but also additional development of the tag for the Production CCS environment.
Enter CBI.
Solution
After working with the client’s team to identify ultimate goals for software use, the experts at CBI recommended an extension of the asset schema—expanding the blueprint of the client’s database. Implementation of this solution was only required once in the Test CCS environment, at which point the same files were employed to extend the schema into the Production CCS environment. In the end, the need for manual tag creation was eliminated.
Results
The results for the organization proved to be invaluable. Not only did the CBI solution save the client both time and resources, it also provided a more expandable, robust system for the future. The schema extension also advanced reporting capabilities and data is now readily available for company employees.
Though CBI was simply retained to assist with integration of the CCS software, the team went above and beyond, delving deep into the business operation, determining long-term IT goals with the client and delivering an outstanding solution.
